The Mercedes-Benz S 400 HYBRID is the world's first series-production passenger car to be equipped with a hybrid drive using a lithium-ion battery. Its fuel consumption is just 7.9 litres per 100 kilometres (combined) with CO2 emissions of 186 g/km (combined). As a result, the S 400 HYBRID also has the distinction of being the world's most economical luxury saloon with a petrol engine and is also the undisputed "CO2 Champion of the Luxury Class". Mercedes-Benz tops 2009 value retention table
Eight Mercedes-Benz vehicles – among them, the B-, the C-, the new E- and the S-Class – have the lowest depreciation in their respective segments and can therefore declare themselves the "2009 value retention champions". The vehicles distinguished themselves in the annual assessment carried out by Saarbrücken-based market research organisation Bähr & Fess Forecast on behalf of motoring magazine "Auto-Bild".
