BlueEFFICIENCY. The efficiency package from Mercedes-Benz.
BlueEFFICIENCY is the Mercedes-Benz label for comprehensive vehicle optimisation. In essence, this means that engineers in various disciplines implement a series of dedicated, intelligent measures, giving Mercedes-Benz cars the ability to achieve substantial savings whilst helping to preserve the environment. All of which allows us to cut fuel consumption by up to 23 percent and reduce CO2 emissions, meaning that Mercedes-Benz models meet current and future CO2 requirements on a national level. Something which you, as a fleet customer, benefit from directly.
This overview includes details of all BlueEFFICIENCY models available in 2009.
Environmental protection made by Mercedes-Benz.
At Mercedes-Benz, we share another aspiration: as part of our ongoing commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our products, we analyse the entire eco balance sheet. Everything from materials selection to development, production, usage and servicing, right through to recycling. And so, we are the world's only car maker to have been awarded the environmental certificate – for the A-Class, B Class, C-Class, S-Class, S 400 HYBRID and GLK-Class – based on the rigorous international standard ISO 1406.
Custom-designed mobility of Mercedes-Benz
In order to meet the diverse requirements of its customers around the world, Mercedes-Benz offers versatile, tailor-made solutions. This approach ensures that international fleet managers can always count on the ideal balance between a vehicle's environmental compatibility and the benefit it offers as a transport solution. Mercedes-Benz has developed – and is systematically following – a roadmap for custom-designed and sustainable mobility. This comprises three areas of activity:

1. Optimisation of vehicles powered by the very latest combustion engines – for example through
- BlueTEC
- CDI, CGI
- NGT

2. Achievement of further increases in efficiency through appropriate use of varying degrees of hybrid technology
- HYBRID
- BlueTEC HYBRID

3. Emission-free driving using
- F-Cell
- E-Cell

In addition to these areas of activity, Mercedes-Benz is involved in the development of clean and alternative fuels which do not compete with food production, one example being SunDiesel which is obtained from waste biomass.
